Infectious disease surveillance update: influenza

As of Jan 31, 2010, confirmed cases of pandemic H1N1 influenza have been reported in more than 209 countries and overseas territories worldwide, including at least 15 174 deaths.

The peak of influenza activity in the temperate northern hemisphere was between October and November, 2009. However, virus transmission is still active in several regions affected at a later stage of the pandemic.
