Latin America

Themed issue, published Nov 10, 2007

Executive summary
There has been substantial progress in public health among the people of Latin America and the Caribbean over the past two decades: child mortality has halved, and life expectancy has increased by an average of 6 years throughout the region. But these indicators of progress mask some huge disparities in health and poverty between and within countries in Latin America. A Latin America themed issue (Nov 10, 2007) explored many of the key health issues in this region.
